Joy Faulks; M. Ed.

I’m Joy Faulks, and I’ve spent nearly 30 years serving students, families, and educators in the public school system—because I’ve always known I wanted to help children thrive.

My career began in youth ministry and evolved through roles as a substitute teacher, special education teacher, and, for the past 18 years, an assistant principal. I hold a Bachelor of Science from Texas Woman’s University and a Master's in Education with special education certification from Tarleton University.

As a special education teacher, I taught elementary and middle school students in resource, inclusion, and life skills settings. Later, in my role as a campus administrator, I supported both middle and elementary schools—deepening my expertise in special education, Section 504, evaluations, and student support services.

One of my strengths is bridging communication between schools and families. I’ve worked closely with diagnosticians and educators to help parents understand the evaluation process and what it means for their child—explaining it clearly, without jargon. I understand the system, the standards, and the skills students need at every level.

This work is also personal for me. I have a brother with special needs, and I’ve walked the journey alongside my family as we navigated his education and advocacy.

Now, as an independent special education advocate, I’m here to help you confidently support your child’s needs—because every child deserves to learn in an environment that understands and empowers them.

If you are looking for someone knowledgeable, patient, skilled, persistent, dependable, and who will fiercely advocate for you, then I am your person.
